Welcome to my website. My name is Nataliya Yena, and I’m a simultaneous interpreter. I am the right choice for all your multilingual communication needs, especially in my working languages: English, German, Russian and Ukrainian. The range of language services I offer includes both spoken-word interpreting and written translation. After over 25 years working with languages, I can interpret and translate, localise websites and recreate adverts in another language. I am qualified as an interpreter and translator. As an experienced senior interpreter, I can also advise on conferences: I organise teams of interpreters, advise on organisational aspects and source interpreting equipment. I am officially qualified as an interpreter (beeidigt) and a translator of documents and certificates (ermächtigt). My work for lawyers and courts is mainly within the Land of Hesse, but also further afield. As a freelance conference interpreter, I work for a variety of international organisations, authorities and private companies. I am happy to work with courts, government agencies and other public sector bodies – or to find you suitable colleagues for these jobs. I am a member of several professional bodies; for two of these I mentor more junior interpreters.

About me

My interpreting career started early, while I was in my final year at school in 1991. Almost three decades later, I have gained experience and qualifications and am now a fully-fledged interpreter and translator. I have attended specialist interpreting colleges in Germany and the Ukraine, and studied World Politics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). I also have first-hand experience of the banking sector, having worked for three and a half years at the Ukrainian Finance and Banking School as part of an EU project. I continue to train and further my professional development. I enjoy this, and am currently focusing on my business skills; I attend an HR academy and am receiving business coaching.

Expertise

My interpreting work often takes place at the heart of international politics, both in Germany and internationally. During my career, I have steadily built up a network of colleagues whom I can turn to when asked to act as consultant interpreter. In this senior role, also known as a chef d’équipe, I offer clients a full service package: a team of interpreters, the relevant conference technology – including for Remote Simultaneous Interpretation (RSI) if needed – and any translations of written materials relating to the conference. I also manage the various people involved.

Alongside my valued interpreting contacts, I have a trusted network of translation colleagues. My written translation work includes specialist texts, nonfiction books and other forms of technical communications. I enjoy working with colleagues for translation work too: the typical ‘team’ I work with has between two and six members. This enables us to provide clients with a complete package comprising translation, checking, formatting and typesetting.
